Ernie Mentesana

This kudu was taken in the Omitara Mountains of Namibia with Elaine Coetzee of CEC Safaris. We spotted this animal a little over a mile away, and laid down a stalk. After a long afternoon of tracking this old man, he finally presented a quick quartering shot a little over 200 yards away. I threw my Sako 85 Grey Wolf up on the sticks and peered through my Swarovski 4-16x50 Professional Hunter and was able to squeeze off a perfect shot. The kudu fluttered his tail and piled up after about a 20 yard scamper. The Sako did ist part as were were even able to recover the 180gr Accubond .300wsm lodged in the far rib cage. This was the second animal I took on my first safari, but easily the most memorable. This estimated 12 year old bull green measured just under 57" with beautiful bases and long ivory tips. Later on safari I was able to harvest a Gemsbok, Warthog, Impala, as well as another Kudu. SWFA helped me prepare for the trip with my Swarovski PH 4-16x50 riflescope, my Swarovski 10x42 SLC binoculars as well as my Leica CRF1200 range finder.
