The binoculars in the photo are the culmination of some extensive research and some serious scrambling. I was inches away from purchasing some giant optics from another company when I "just for the heck of it" called Duwane Adams. Duwane as always was way ahead of the game when it came to glassing for Coues Deer with extra large optics. Duwane and I, after some fervent discussion of the matter decided that we were both going to take the plunge and get some "so-called" Big Eyes. And I can attest we have never looked back.

Our quest started with a call to SWFA to a gentleman by the name of Chris Farris who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We ended up purchasing 2 Swarovski BigEyes. The set up is as versatile as the spotter in that any of the STS65 eyepieces are interchangeable in the binoculars.

Looking through a single spotting scope is like looking through a straw as Duwane puts it and these make even the 15x56’s pale in comparison. When it comes to long hours of long distance glassing for grey ghosts here in Arizona, Coues Deer are about the most impossible deer to spot with even the best glass. The Big Eyes are just the ticket. With the 20X wide angle eyepiece there was never a problem with headaches or eye fatigue whatsoever. The added plus is for truly trophy judging an animal at long range all we needed to do was lock down the tripod and pop out one 20x Swarovski eyepiece and pop in the 20-60 zoom eyepiece. What a breeze compared to fiddling around with multiple tripods and optics. I was able to glass up the Coues Deer that I harvested at over 800 yards. One look through the 20X Bino’s was all it took and I was on my way. I stalked to within 80 yards and was able to close the gap while he tended to a doe. I gave a quick grunt and the rest is history. Many thanks to Chris at SWFA for helping me with my quest for a Pope and Young Coues Deer.
