Our practice range faces southwest on the southern most tip of Texas. The backstop berm is built 100 yards from the river that divides the US from Mexico. This is a perfect spot to shoot with a steady wind from the southeast. Hitting targets out to 700 yards is relatively easy with our .308 SPHD Rifles, but at 800 yards and beyond, there is a vicious wind that swirls off the river and berm making accurate wind calls and shot calls an absolute must. Inferior optics and substandard glass just won’t do.

We searched the SWFA websites for the perfect spotting scope. We need something that could pull in the wind mirage, bullet trace, as well as the bullet strikes on steel at 800 to 1000 yards. We needed something to give us the edge. SWFA’s Sample List (www.SampleList.com/ ) held our solution. We found a Leica 77mm Straight Televid display model and 20-60x eyepiece for an incredible price!
