This was the first year that my youngest son was able to hunt. He drew both a Javelina and a Deer tag for our home state of New Mexico.
My hunting strategy has always been to climb to a good vantage point before daylight and glass up bucks with the 15x56 Swarovski binoculars I purchased from Chris at SWFA. After a miss and stalks on which the opportunity of a shot never arose we were forced to go home due to school. The unit in which he had drawn this tag was over 2 hours from where we live but, my wife convinced me to pick up Zach early from school and drive out there. After a little hiking Zach made an awesome 100 yard shot to harvest the first big game animal of his hunting career.
