I took this great West Texas mule deer in December 2006. I had a migraine headache that day and had almost decided not to go out. I left the ranch house anyway and hunted not too far from the house in an area of some small mountains. The wind was blowing 40 mph+ and the temperature was hovering around 25 degrees. I rounded one mountain and sat down for a drink and a rest, deciding that if I didn't see anything in the draw I was looking in I would go one more mountain and then go home.

I looked into the draw and saw about 20 deer getting up out of their beds and they started running up the other side. This big boy made that fatal decision to stop at about 275 yards and look back. I was shooting from a sitting position and the target was up hill. You guessed it, magnum eyebrow hit me with the first shot from my Remington 7mm SAUM topped with a Leupold VX-II 3-9 that I purchased from SWFA! The second shot put him down for good.

I could not believe what I had just taken. He's 29.75" wide, was aged at 4.5 years old and grossed nearly 160. I've hunted for a long time to get that magical 30" buck and this may be as close as I get. Had it not been for the clear, pure sight picture of my Leupold optics purchased at SWFA, this deer mught have escaped. I purchase all my optics at SWFA becuas they have the lowest prices and the greatest customer service. Thanks SWFA!
