Tom HortonIt was opening day of the 2008 Antelope rifle season in southeast Colorado I had booked this hunt a couple months prior and was ready to hunt this 30,000 acre ranch. We located our first group of Pronghorn just after sun up and it was obvious they were rutting hard. I could tell finding a shooter wasn't going to be a problem but getting a buck to cooperate might be. We finally set up late morning on the far north east corner of the property overlooking a bluff. And before we knew it we had 35 antelope heading our way. About that time a mature buck seperated from the herd chasing a doe and after running her back and forth a couple times. I got my Burris crosshairs on the buck as he was quartered away. My guide told me we better take him because he wasn't going to stop. I cranked the power up on my Burris scope and had a crystal clear view and squeezed off. That antelope dropped right there and I've got a 15" Colorado Pronghorn that will soon be on my wall.
