John SinzPictured is my Barrett M99 .50 BMG rifle, topped with a Burris Black Diamond 8X32 scope I obtained from S.W.F.A.
I hope to someday utilize the rifle on a Moose/Elk hunt, but for now settle for punching paper and various range targets. In fact, during a recent range session, the rifle and scope combination were accurate enought to reapeatedly hit a 20 inch target at 1000 yards using spotter/tracer ammuntion.
When using spotter/tracer ammunitons, I was able to see the bullet path through the scope as it made its way downrange, and could even see the bullet impact through the scope! Spotter/tracer ammo has a small charge in the bullet that creates a loud "pop" and produces white smoke when the round impacts. It takes a couple of seconds for the sound report of the bullet impact to retun to the shooters position as well, making for a very fun range session! John used:
