Spend about $600 to $700 on dating her, get to know her.
I let my custom 308cal rifle rest out the season of 2011-2012, only because I had ran into a 9 month nightmare from the season before. I have no problems taking 400 to 600 yard shots if everything is lined up, Temp. Humidity, and wind value, and the buck standing at the right angle for a well-placed vital drop shot. A shot over 400 yards has lost a lot of its impact, not much more than a 9mm at that distance. I went through all the magnums and went with the Savage model 111 chambered in 300win. mag. A trigger job, a new bolt, spring loaded butt pad, and the barrel tuned to its true harmonics. It’s a solid platform. Now all I need is the best hardware and the perfect optics. I found it in the Hawke 6-24-56 SideWinder 30 with a 10 to 20 mil dot along with a red or green reticle with almost a 4" eye relief. This was the scope that just keep giving to the 300mag. Spend some time with her, get to know the big wheel along with its true mil dot ranges and make range cards about everything.... More
