Steiner has developed an entirely new compact Tactical & Military Binocular incorporating the newly developed SUMR (Steiner Universal Mil Reticle) targeting, reticle system. Using entirely new optical system formations, new fully multi-coated optics and a completely new shock and waterproof housing, the Steiner 10x42 R Tactical Bincoular delivers a new standard of performance in a precision tactical binocular that includes a new Mil Reticle Targeting System allowing faster and more accurate communications between the spotter/observer and weapons delivery personnel.

By building this new Universal Reticle system into a 10x Roof Prism binocular, Steiner is able to offer the War Fighter a smaller, rugged and light weight binocular in a power that matches the favored magnification used in many of the new 10x Military rifle scopes used by Army, Air and Marine SOF units on rifles in calibers from 5.56 thru .50 BMG and beyond. The reticle is based on the standard Mil System. The binocular reticle is a multi-role tool since the reticle's mil graduations combine standard 5 & 10 mil increments that reduce down to single and split mils towards the center of the view area enabling the user to effectively accomplish observations, coordinate direct and indirect small arms fire, close air support observations and delivery of PGM munitions.

New interference mirror technology combines traditional silver mirror technology with selected Dielectric Coatings to the Interference Mirrors. This new technology delivers greater light transmission, image contrast and pinpoint resolution. The Steiner 10x42 R also features a new ergonomically designed housing and a special rubberized, armor covering. The unique "pistol grip" checkered grip area feels great in the hand and helps protect the binocular from the harshest conditions.
